Decatur County is fortunate to have many
excellent educational facilities. Starting with the elementary schools and
continuing through college opportunities, Decatur County can satisfy all of its citizen's
educational needs.
Outside of the Greensburg school district is the
Decatur County School District consisting of North Decatur Schools and South Decatur
Schools. Both North and South offer Kindergarten through the 12th grade with many
opportunities to excel in academics and athletics.
Greensburg Community Schools is the home of
Greensburg High School, Greensburg Junior High School, Billings
Elementary, Rosenmund Elementary and Washington Elementary. Greensburg Community
Schools also offers its students many, many opportunities to acquire the skills they need
to either join the workforce or to continue their education beyond high school.
Opportunities beyond high school include the
Area Learning Center of the College Cooperative Southeast. Here students can begin
their college education or to simply pickup some extra courses to help them in their
job utilizing the Indiana College Network.
Schools participating in the College Cooperative Southeast include Indiana University, Purdue
University, Ball State University and host of others, including Ivy Tech State College.
In addition to the College Cooperative, citizens
from the entire county can utilize the educational opportunities which exist at the
Decatur County Extension Office. With the vast resources of Purdue University at
its disposal, the Extension Office has educational information available for almost any
need.
